Curious about the GP53? This race pays homage to the late Graham Pascoe, affectionately remembered as father to Matty Pascoe and grandfather to Brad and Zac Pascoe. Graham, born in 1953, serves as the inspiration behind the GP53 moniker.
Graham always had a competitive spirit, desiring to clinch victories and secure prime starting positions. However, he also understood the importance of starting mid-pack, fostering thrilling races for spectators. Hence, the GP53 introducing a unique twist with its Top Ten Dash format, where four cars per dash, embark on four laps against the clock. Gradually, the slowest two cars are eliminated until a dash winner emerges, claiming the coveted $500 KRE Race Engines Dash cheque. Subsequently, starting positions are determined with the winner starting from 10th, selecting who starts 9th, and so forth, until the final top-ten contender secures pole position.
This method not only rewards speed but also redistributes the wealth among competitors, fostering an inclusive environment where every racer has the opportunity to shine. Moreover, it reshuffles the grid, injecting unpredictability and enhancing the spectacle for the enthusiastic crowd.
Concluding the event with a thrilling 53-lap A Main race adds an extra layer of excitement and unpredictability. With such a significant distance to cover, the competition is wide open, making it anyone’s race to claim. Get ready for an electrifying showdown on the track!
